Hello, my name is Ian Kenneally and welcome to the site. I am a historian currently researching a PhD in Irish history at NUI Galway. I have also studied in University College Cork where I received a master’s degree. I have varied research interests but for now I am researching aspects of the history and influence of the newspaper press in Ireland.
My most recent book is 'From The Earth, A Cry: the story of John Boyle O'Reilly'. I am the author of two earlier books, 'The Paper Wall: newspapers and propaganda in Ireland 1919-1921' and 'Courage and Conflict: forgotten stories of the Irish at War'.
I have also contributed to a number of edited collections such as 'Irish Journalism before Independence' (Manchester University Press), 'Independent Newspapers - A History' (Four Courts Press), and 'Periodicals and Journalism in Twentieth Century Ireland' (Four Courts Press).
From The Earth, A Cry: 'I read the book at a sitting and was enthralled' – Books Ireland
The Paper Wall: 'This is a fascinating read' – The Sunday Tribune
Courage and Conflict: 'A wonderful book' – Irish American News
